Field Music is quite something. I couldn’t believe my ears that only three guys could craft such an amazing music.
Tones of Town reminds me a big mix of Supertramp, of Montreal with some experimental hints like Deerhoof, besides the obvious Beatles influence.
But everything sounds classic like Electric Light Orchestra.

I don’t want to mean they’re a collection of pre-made elements, they joyfully remind me of those names but they’re so good at it, they’re cool.

The vocal harmonies are just bliss, the melodies are wonderful.
I regret not knowing them before.

The first full-length album by Metric was recorded in 2001 but released in 2007, for record label issues.

It’s kind a pop music with rock and hip hop influences. The album starts with the good homonymous track and  goes down straight to a black whole of pop clichés with hip hop beats.

Hissing Fauna… is the first album I’ve heard by Of Montreal.
This surprised me at first because of the free flowing vocals and melodies, but took me a while to get into it.

Devendra Banhart - Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon

Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon is a lot of things, but overall it’s pretentious. Pretentious in a good way, since it seems Devendra tried to put into one album everything he likes.

SRDTC kicks off with his usual folk. After some tracks he goes to samba, pop, soul and after all  he comes back to folk.

I must say I don’t pay much attention to his purely folk songs.

Au Revoir Simone - The Bird of Music

First full length album by the female trio.
They make a sweet indie pop. I’d say they’re a delicate version of CocoRosie.

I love the first track.

Belle & Sebastian - If You’re Feeling Sinister

Some will say it’s the best album by Belle & Sebastian, since I’m not into indie/twee pop nor into B&S music I have only superficial impressions.

This is a good thoughtful album. The music is somewhat cynic and sad.
